Visual character
Golden brown to reddish brown bands with a moving, silk-like chatoyancy. The bright band shifts as the bead turns because aligned fibers reflect light directionally.
From raw to bead
Rough tiger’s-eye can look earthy and irregular before finishing. A rounded polish aligns the viewer with the fibrous structure more smoothly, making the moving band of chatoyancy easier to see.
Origin & geology
Tiger’s-eye is a quartz-rich fibrous aggregate associated with altered amphibole fibers and iron oxides. GIA describes the chatoyancy as light reflecting from golden quartz fibers; the commercial name describes the visual material rather than a single simple crystal species.

Care & wear

Tiger's eye feels especially wearable in autumnal or neutral compositions. Its movement is subtle but never flat.
