Warmth

Visual character

Warm yellow, peach, red, or brown feldspar that may show a fine glittering aventurescence. The sparkle can be patchy or directional, so one bead may appear more animated than the next.

From raw to bead

Raw sunstone can appear subdued until its surface is smoothed. Polishing increases reflection and can reveal glitter, color zoning, or translucency, though the effect depends on the individual material and orientation.

Origin & geology

Sunstone is a name for feldspar varieties with a sunlit appearance; both orthoclase and plagioclase feldspars can be called sunstone. Aventurescence comes from flat reflective inclusions, not from a single universal composition.

Care & wear

Feldspar is less hard than quartz and can scratch or chip with impact. Avoid abrupt temperature changes and ultrasonic cleaning when inclusions or fractures are unknown. Clean gently with a soft cloth; for a finished Veil Loom bracelet, follow the care needs of the complete composition.

Curator note

Sunstone has presence without becoming loud. It suits bracelets that want warmth with a lighter touch.
