Pale blue to blue-gray chalcedony with fine white or lighter bands. Its appeal lies in quiet pattern rather than high transparency, and each bead can place the bands differently.
From raw to bead
Rough blue lace agate can look chalkier or more broken at the surface. Polishing brings a soft sheen to the blue-gray body color and makes fine banding easier to follow around a bead.
Origin & geology
Blue lace agate is a commercial name for pale blue banded chalcedony. Chalcedony is microcrystalline quartz; the name describes a visual variety rather than a separate mineral species. Published gemological references describe blue lace agate from Namibia, but this does not identify Veil Loom inventory by origin.
