Visual character
Translucent to opaque chalcedony with natural banding, layered color, or earthy pattern. Each bead can show a different balance of clear zones, milky areas, and curved bands.
From raw to bead
Raw agate can show broken edges and irregular layers. Bead shaping and polishing create a continuous surface that lets bands and translucent zones appear more coherent as the bead rotates.
Origin & geology
Agate is a banded variety of chalcedony, a microcrystalline quartz aggregate. It generally forms as silica-rich fluids deposit successive layers in cavities or fractures, producing its characteristic banded structure.

Care & wear
